Imposter syndrome often isn’t a lack of ability—it’s a threat response. When your brain predicts judgment or rejection, it can trigger doubt, perfectionism, and over-preparing.

Common signs

  • Discounting your wins

  • Overworking to ‘earn’ belonging

  • Fear of being exposed

  • Comparing yourself to people you don’t actually know

A nervous-system reset you can use in 90 seconds

  • Exhale longer than you inhale (e.g., 4 in / 6 out) for 6 breaths.

  • Name 3 things you can see and 2 things you can feel.

  • Ask: ‘What’s one small action that moves me forward anyway?’
